Uncertain of my own reality, nothing soothes me as much as the time spent shaping and organizing matter. As if my existence needed to slip into an object to keep from vanishing into the smoke of time.
Originally a painter for many years, clay entered my life through the sunlit door of friendship. Absorbed by the question of transformation, I began shaping sculptures that embody the passage from one realm to another—Mineral, Plant, or Animal—into hybrid creatures, half-beast, half-plant; houses that almost bloom like flowers; elves adorned with foliage; and other characters from unknown tales emerging from the mud of distorted memories. Lovely little unsettling things as well as the gentlest of monsters, with clay remaining their crystallized witness.
