Passionate and fascinating, Frédérique Domergue gives life to pure, simple materials. She invites us into a poetic, sensual elsewhere. Seemingly simple and strikingly organic, her talent lies in the elegance of her design and the energy brought forth by the contrasts of the different materials used.

Her artworks are created by playing with the elements : using naturally acidic mixtures such as vinegar or coffee grounds, she provokes and orients a process of oxidization on leaves of various metals. The result depends on a multitude of factors that are impossible to replicate : humidity, temperature, acidity…

When contemplating her works, one doesn’t imagine the countless hours dedicated to its creation : one sees only the beauty, the strength, the vitality of her art. What leaves an impression is the beauty, strength, authenticity and intensely natural quality of her works. Her works are brought to life through various stages of polishing and oxydation, which bring forth vibrant and dynamic shades of orange, blue, gray, or green.

Contemplating Frédérique Domergue’s work awakens all of the senses. Each work brings more than just contemplation, it is an experience. –

Frédérique’s inspiration comes from the natural world around her, in the South of France. The sea and the sky occupy privileged roles in her art. One can almost feel the ocean’s spray and salty breeze. – –
