Thierry Decologne discovered his calling early one morning on 1976, when arriving at an elderly neighbor’s house he found her set up on her terrace in La Bussière sur Ouche, overlooking the Canal de Bourgogne, painting the beautiful Burgundian countryside. That day he decided he would be a painter, and picked up a brush for the first time.
Mainly self-taught and trained alongside artist friends in his community, he developed a specialty animal paintings through a partnership with the Office National des Forêts, for which he painted animals destined for brochures and naturalist signage.
A passionate amateur of art history, he has great interest in understanding the techniques of great masters – from preparing a canvas or pigment to their painting techniques.
For Galerie Herbert-Fort, he has created a series of oil paintings of French birds, all elegantly framed.
